How To Install python-designateclient on Ubuntu 18.04

What is python-designateclient
python-designateclient is:
Designate provides DNSaaS services for OpenStack. It provides a multi-tenant REST API for domain & record management. It is Integrated with Keystone for authentication, and provides a framework in place to integrate with Nova and Neutron notifications (for auto-generated records). Designate supports PowerDNS and Bind9 out of the box.
This is a client for the OpenStack Designate API. There’s a Python API (the “designateclient” module), and a command-line script (“designate”).
Installing this package gets you a shell command, that you can use to interact with Designate’s API.
This package provides the Python 2.7 module.
There are three methods to install python-designateclient
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-designateclient Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-designateclient
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-designateclient
Install python-designateclient Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-designateclient
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-designateclient
Install python-designateclient Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-designateclient
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-designateclient
How To Uninstall python-designateclient on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-designateclient
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-designateclient
Uninstall python-designateclient And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-designateclient
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-designateclient
Remove python-designateclient Configurations and Data
To remove python-designateclient
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-designateclient
Remove python-designateclient configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-designateclient
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-designateclient
