How To Install python-cluster on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install python-cluster on Debian 9. python-cluster is allows grouping a list of arbitrary objects into related groups (clusters)

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install python-cluster on Debian 9.

What is python-cluster

python-cluster is:

python-cluster is a “simple” package that allows users to create several groups (clusters) of objects from a list. It’s meant to be flexible and able to cluster any object. To ensure this kind of flexibility, you need not only to supply the list of objects, but also a function that calculates the similarity between two of those objects. For simple datatypes, like integers, this can be as simple as a subtraction, but more complex calculations are possible. Right now, it is possible to generate the clusters using a hierarchical clustering and the popular K-Means algorithm. For the hierarchical algorithm there are different “linkage” (single, complete, average and uclus) methods available.

There are three methods to install python-cluster on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-cluster Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-cluster using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python-cluster

Install python-cluster Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python-cluster using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python-cluster

Install python-cluster Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python-cluster using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python-cluster

How To Uninstall python-cluster on Debian 9

To uninstall only the python-cluster package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-cluster

Uninstall python-cluster And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python-cluster and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-cluster

Remove python-cluster Configurations and Data

To remove python-cluster configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python-cluster

Remove python-cluster configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python-cluster configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-cluster

Dependencies

python-cluster have the following dependencies:
