How To Install python-cigi on Ubuntu 18.04

What is python-cigi
python-cigi is:
This package contains SWIG-generated Python interfaces for the CIGI class library (CCL). The primary goal of the Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI) standard is to standardise the interface between a simulators host computer and the Image Generator. The CCL is a C++ language library for implementing CIGI in both host and IG applications.
Some features of the CCL include:
- Handles packing, unpacking, and byte swapping automatically
- Handles output buffer management
- Can handle most of the input buffer management with simple calls
- Can translate between different versions of CIGI
There are three methods to install python-cigi on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-cigi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-cigi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-cigi

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-cigi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-cigi
Install python-cigi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-cigi using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-cigi
How To Uninstall python-cigi on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-cigi package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-cigi
Uninstall python-cigi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-cigi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-cigi
Remove python-cigi Configurations and Data
To remove python-cigi configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-cigi
Remove python-cigi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-cigi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-cigi
