What is pecomato

pecomato is:

PECoMaTo is a metadata processor designed to display any kind of information embedded in picture files, as well as checking, filtering, extracting, removing, adding and fixing such information.

It supports the following file formats: JPEG/JFIF, Adobe PSD, FFO and raw IPTC. And it knows about the following metadata formats: JFIF, IPTC, Exif, Adobe and Fotostation.

One of its main goals is to check the validity of parsed metadata as well as optionally check the strict compliance to official standards. On another hand, it aims to provide ways of fixing broken or not compliant chunks as well as providing general basic functions to manipulate the metadata.

There are three methods to install pecomato on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install pecomato Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install pecomato using apt-get by running the following command:

Install pecomato Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install pecomato using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install pecomato

How To Uninstall pecomato on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the pecomato package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove pecomato

Uninstall pecomato And Its Dependencies

To uninstall pecomato and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove pecomato

Remove pecomato Configurations and Data

To remove pecomato configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge pecomato

Remove pecomato configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
