How To Install openvswitch-switch on Kali Linux

What is openvswitch-switch
openvswitch-switch is:
Open vSwitch is a production quality, multilayer, software-based, Ethernet virtual switch. It is designed to enable massive network automation through programmatic extension, while still supporting standard management interfaces and protocols (e.g. NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP, 802.1ag). In addition, it is designed to support distribution across multiple physical servers similar to VMware’s vNetwork distributed vswitch or Cisco’s Nexus 1000V.
openvswitch-switch provides the userspace components and utilities for the Open vSwitch kernel-based switch.
There are three methods to install openvswitch-switch on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openvswitch-switch Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-switch using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openvswitch-switchInstall openvswitch-switch Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-switch using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install openvswitch-switchInstall openvswitch-switch Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-switch using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install openvswitch-switchHow To Uninstall openvswitch-switch on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the openvswitch-switch package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove openvswitch-switchUninstall openvswitch-switch And Its Dependencies
To uninstall openvswitch-switch and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openvswitch-switchRemove openvswitch-switch Configurations and Data
To remove openvswitch-switch configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openvswitch-switchRemove openvswitch-switch configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove openvswitch-switch configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openvswitch-switchDependencies
