How To Install octomap on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install octomap on Rocky Linux 8. octomap is Efficient Probabilistic 3D Mapping Framework Based on Octrees

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install octomap on Rocky Linux 8.

What is octomap

The OctoMap library implements a 3D occupancy grid mapping approach, providing data structures and mapping algorithms in C++ particularly suited for robotics. The map implementation is based on an octree.

We can use yum or dnf to install octomap on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install octomap.

Install octomap on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
