How To Install octave-video on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install octave-video
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is octave-video
octave-video is:
A wrapper for ffmpeg’s libavformat and libavcodec, implementing addframe, avifile, aviinfo and aviread.
This Octave add-on package is part of the Octave-Forge project.
There are three methods to install octave-video
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install octave-video Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install octave-video
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install octave-video

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo apt-get -y autoremove octave-video
Remove octave-video Configurations and Data
To remove octave-video
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge octave-video
