What is nova-console

nova-console is:

OpenStack is a reliable cloud infrastructure. Its mission is to produce the ubiquitous cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable.

OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller designed to be modular and easy to extend and adapt. In addition to its “native” OpenStack API, it also supports the Amazon EC2 API, and it supports many different database backends (including SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL), hypervisors (KVM, Xen), and user directory systems (LDAP, SQL).

This package provides the console server. This enables the use of consoles with XVP and XenServer. It is a publicly reachable component which proxies access to VNCs running on compute nodes.

There are three methods to install nova-console on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nova-console Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install nova-console using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install nova-console

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install nova-console using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install nova-console

Install nova-console Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install nova-console using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nova-console

How To Uninstall nova-console on Debian 9

To uninstall only the nova-console package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove nova-console

Uninstall nova-console And Its Dependencies

To uninstall nova-console and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-console

Remove nova-console Configurations and Data

To remove nova-console configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nova-console

Remove nova-console configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
