What is nova-cert
nova-cert is:
OpenStack is a reliable cloud infrastructure. Its mission is to produce the ubiquitous cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable.
OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller designed to be modular and easy to extend and adapt. In addition to its “native” OpenStack API, it also supports the Amazon EC2 API, and it supports many different database backends (including SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL), hypervisors (KVM, Xen), and user directory systems (LDAP, SQL).
This package provides the certificate manager. This enables the generation and revocation of X.509 certificates used to access the platform.
There are three methods to install nova-cert
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install nova-cert Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-cert
using apt-get

Install nova-cert Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-cert
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nova-cert
How To Uninstall nova-cert on Debian 9
To uninstall only the nova-cert
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nova-cert
Uninstall nova-cert And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nova-cert
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-cert
Remove nova-cert Configurations and Data
To remove nova-cert
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nova-cert
Remove nova-cert configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
