What is nova-api

nova-api is:

OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller designed to be modular and easy to extend and adapt. In addition to its “native” OpenStack API, it also supports the Amazon EC2 API, and it supports many different database backends (including SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL), hypervisors (KVM, Xen), and user directory systems (LDAP, SQL).

There are three methods to install nova-api on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nova-api Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install nova-api using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nova-api

How To Uninstall nova-api on Debian 10

To uninstall only the nova-api package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove nova-api

To uninstall nova-api and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-api

Remove nova-api Configurations and Data

To remove nova-api configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nova-api
