What is mu-editor
mu-editor is:
Mu is a simple code editor for beginner programmers, based on extensive feedback from teachers and learners. Having said that, Mu is for anyone who wants to use a simple “no frills” editor.
Mu is a modal editor with modes for:
- standard Python 3 (including a graphical debugger)
- the micro:bit’s version of MicroPython
- Adafruit’s CircuitPython
- Pygame Zero
Some of the modes make available a REPL (either running on the connected CircuitPython or MicroPython device, or as a Jupyter-based iPython session in Python3 mode).

There are three methods to install mu-editor
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mu-editor Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mu-editor
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mu-editor

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall mu-editor on Debian 10
To uninstall only the mu-editor
package we can use the following command:
