What is mtpolicyd

mtpolicyd is:

mtpolicyd is a modular policy daemon for postfix written in perl. It has support for virtual hosts, session caching, per-user configuration and is easily extensible thru plugins.

It already ships with a lot of plugins:

RBL - query DNS IP black/whitelists
DBL - query DNS domain black/whitelists
SqlList - use SQL query as black/whitelist
CtIpRep - use Commtouch IP reputation
GeoIP - use location of sending IP
Fail2ban - block spammers with fail2ban/iptables
Greylist - greylisting
SPF - Sender Policy Framework
Accounting - collect SMTP-level accounting information

There are three methods to install mtpolicyd on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install mtpolicyd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install mtpolicyd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install mtpolicyd

Install mtpolicyd Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install mtpolicyd using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install mtpolicyd

Install mtpolicyd Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install mtpolicyd using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install mtpolicyd

How To Uninstall mtpolicyd on Debian 9

To uninstall only the mtpolicyd package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mtpolicyd

Uninstall mtpolicyd And Its Dependencies

To uninstall mtpolicyd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove mtpolicyd

Remove mtpolicyd Configurations and Data

To remove mtpolicyd configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
