How To Install mpi-testsuite on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install mpi-testsuite on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is mpi-testsuite
mpi-testsuite is:
The MPI testsuite is taken from the MPICH source tree. It exercises a wide range of MPI tests written in C, C++, Fortran77 and Fortran90. Both the MPI-2 and the MPI-3 standard is targetted. Currently the following MPI implementations and threadlevels are tested:
- OpenMPI, MPI_THREAD_FUNNELED
- MPICH, MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE
This package contains the testsuite results for each run in TAP, JUNIT and XML format.
There are three methods to install mpi-testsuite on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mpi-testsuite Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mpi-testsuite using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mpi-testsuite
Install mpi-testsuite Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mpi-testsuite using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mpi-testsuite
Install mpi-testsuite Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mpi-testsuite using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mpi-testsuite
How To Uninstall mpi-testsuite on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the mpi-testsuite package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mpi-testsuite
Uninstall mpi-testsuite And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mpi-testsuite and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mpi-testsuite
Remove mpi-testsuite Configurations and Data
To remove mpi-testsuite configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mpi-testsuite
Remove mpi-testsuite configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mpi-testsuite configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mpi-testsuite
