How To Install mono-dmcs on Ubuntu 18.04

What is mono-dmcs
mono-dmcs is:
This is a transitional dummy package to aid migration to mono-mcs.
This is the Mono C# (C-Sharp) 4.0 compiler, a platform-independent compiler which produces CIL (Common Intermediate Language) binary executables. This compiler targets the CLI 4.0 runtime version.
Mono is a platform for running and developing applications based on the ECMA/ISO Standards. Mono is an open source effort led by Xamarin. Mono provides a complete CLR (Common Language Runtime) including compiler and runtime, which can produce and execute CIL (Common Intermediate Language) bytecode (aka assemblies), and a class library.
There are three methods to install mono-dmcs
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mono-dmcs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mono-dmcs
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mono-dmcs
Install mono-dmcs Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mono-dmcs
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mono-dmcs
Install mono-dmcs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mono-dmcs
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mono-dmcs
How To Uninstall mono-dmcs on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the mono-dmcs
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mono-dmcs
Uninstall mono-dmcs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mono-dmcs
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mono-dmcs
Remove mono-dmcs Configurations and Data
To remove mono-dmcs
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mono-dmcs
Remove mono-dmcs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mono-dmcs
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mono-dmcs
