How To Install mdns-repeater on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install mdns-repeater
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is mdns-repeater
mdns-repeater is a Multicast DNS repeater for Linux. Multicast DNS uses the 224.0.0.51 address, which is “administratively scoped” and does not leave the subnet. This program re-broadcasts mDNS packets from one interface to other interfaces.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install mdns-repeater
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mdns-repeater.
Install mdns-repeater on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install mdns-repeater
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install mdns-repeater
Install mdns-repeater on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install mdns-repeater
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install mdns-repeater
How To Uninstall mdns-repeater on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the mdns-repeater
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove mdns-repeater
