How To Install maliit-framework on Debian 12

In this tutorial we learn how to install maliit-framework on Debian 12.
What is maliit-framework
maliit-framework is:
Maliit provides a flexible and cross-platform input method framework. It has a plugin-based client-server architecture where applications act as clients and communicate with the Maliit server via input context plugins. The communication link currently uses D-Bus. Maliit is an open source framework (LGPL 2) with open source plugins (BSD).
There are three methods to install maliit-framework on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install maliit-framework Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install maliit-framework using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install maliit-framework
Install maliit-framework Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install maliit-framework using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install maliit-framework
Install maliit-framework Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install maliit-framework using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install maliit-framework
How To Uninstall maliit-framework on Debian 12
To uninstall only the maliit-framework package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove maliit-framework
Uninstall maliit-framework And Its Dependencies
To uninstall maliit-framework and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove maliit-framework
Remove maliit-framework Configurations and Data
To remove maliit-framework configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge maliit-framework
Remove maliit-framework configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove maliit-framework configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge maliit-framework
