How To Install libyami-utils on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libyami-utils
libyami-utils is:
Video Acceleration API (VA API) is a library (“libVA”) and API specification which enables and provides access to graphics hardware (GPU) acceleration for video processing on Linux and UNIX based operating systems. Accelerated processing includes video decoding, video encoding, subpicture blending and rendering. libyami builds on top of libva, and provides high level API for video processing. It will help with bitstream parsing, reference frame management, etc.
This package provides decoder/encoder/vpp programs using libyami.
There are three methods to install libyami-utils
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libyami-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libyami-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libyami-utils
Install libyami-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libyami-utils
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libyami-utils
Install libyami-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libyami-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libyami-utils
How To Uninstall libyami-utils on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libyami-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libyami-utils
Uninstall libyami-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libyami-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libyami-utils
Remove libyami-utils Configurations and Data
To remove libyami-utils
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libyami-utils
Remove libyami-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libyami-utils
