How To Install libpsych-java on Ubuntu 20.04

What is libpsych-java
libpsych-java is:
ruby-psych is a YAML parser and emitter. Psych leverages libyaml for its YAML parsing and emitting capabilities. In addition to wrapping libyaml, Psych also knows how to serialize and de-serialize most Ruby objects to and from the YAML format.
Psych has been included with the main Ruby implementation since 1.9.2, and is the default YAML parser from 1.9.3 and beyond.
libpsych-java ships the Java extension to improve performance for Ruby implementations running in the JVM, like jruby.
There are three methods to install libpsych-java on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpsych-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpsych-java using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpsych-java
Install libpsych-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpsych-java using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpsych-java
Install libpsych-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpsych-java using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpsych-java
How To Uninstall libpsych-java on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libpsych-java package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpsych-java
Uninstall libpsych-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpsych-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpsych-java
Remove libpsych-java Configurations and Data
To remove libpsych-java configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpsych-java
