In this tutorial we learn how to install libopenblas-base on Kali Linux.

What is libopenblas-base

libopenblas-base is:

OpenBLAS is an optimized BLAS library based on GotoBLAS2 1.13 BSD version.

Unlike Atlas, OpenBLAS provides a multiple architecture library.

All kernel will be included in the library and dynamically switched to the best architecture at run time (only on amd64, arm64, i386, ppc64el and s390x).

This is a transitional dummy package, which can be safely removed.

There are three methods to install libopenblas-base on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libopenblas-base Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libopenblas-base using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libopenblas-base

Install libopenblas-base Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libopenblas-base using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libopenblas-base using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libopenblas-base

How To Uninstall libopenblas-base on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libopenblas-base package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libopenblas-base

Uninstall libopenblas-base And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libopenblas-base and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libopenblas-base

Remove libopenblas-base Configurations and Data

To remove libopenblas-base configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libopenblas-base
