How To Install libknot8 on Ubuntu 20.04

on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libknot8
libknot8 is:
Knot DNS is a fast, authoritative only, high performance, feature full and open source name server.
Knot DNS is developed by CZ.NIC Labs, the R&D department of .CZ registry and hence is well suited to run anything from the root zone, the top-level domain, to many smaller standard domain names.
This package provides libknot shared library used by Knot DNS and Knot Resolver.
There are three methods to install libknot8
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libknot8 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libknot8
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libknot8
Install libknot8 Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libknot8
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libknot8
Install libknot8 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libknot8
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install libknot8
How To Uninstall libknot8 on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libknot8
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libknot8
Uninstall libknot8 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libknot8
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libknot8
Remove libknot8 Configurations and Data
To remove libknot8
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libknot8
Remove libknot8 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
