How To Install libhmmer2-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libhmmer2-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libhmmer2-dev
libhmmer2-dev is:
HMMER is an implementation of profile hidden Markov model methods for sensitive searches of biological sequence databases using multiple sequence alignments as queries.
Given a multiple sequence alignment as input, HMMER builds a statistical model called a “hidden Markov model” which can then be used as a query into a sequence database to find (and/or align) additional homologues of the sequence family.
This package contains header files and static library that can be used to link against libhmmer.
There are three methods to install libhmmer2-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libhmmer2-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libhmmer2-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libhmmer2-devInstall libhmmer2-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libhmmer2-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libhmmer2-devInstall libhmmer2-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the libhmmer2-dev package we can use the following command:

To uninstall libhmmer2-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

To remove libhmmer2-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
