How To Install libgmsh3 on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libgmsh3
libgmsh3 is:
Gmsh is a 3D finite element grid generator with a build-in CAD engine and post-processor. Its design goal is to provide a fast, light and user-friendly meshing tool with parametric input and advanced visualization capabilities. Gmsh is built around four modules: geometry, mesh, solver and post-processing. The specification of any input to these modules is done either interactively using the graphical user interface or in ASCII text files using Gmsh’s own scripting language.

There are three methods to install libgmsh3
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgmsh3 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgmsh3
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgmsh3
Install libgmsh3 Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libgmsh3
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgmsh3
Install libgmsh3 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgmsh3
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgmsh3
How To Uninstall libgmsh3 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libgmsh3
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgmsh3
Uninstall libgmsh3 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgmsh3
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgmsh3
Remove libgmsh3 Configurations and Data
To remove libgmsh3
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgmsh3
Remove libgmsh3 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libgmsh3
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgmsh3
