How To Install libcv-dev on Debian 9

What is libcv-dev
libcv-dev is:
This package provide files for translation from libcv-dev to subdivided packages.
This package contains the header files and static library needed to compile applications that use OpenCV (Open Computer Vision).
The Open Computer Vision Library is a collection of algorithms and sample code for various computer vision problems. The library is compatible with IPL (Intel’s Image Processing Library) and, if available, can use IPP (Intel’s Integrated Performance Primitives) for better performance.
OpenCV provides low level portable data types and operators, and a set of high level functionalities for video acquisition, image processing and analysis, structural analysis, motion analysis and object tracking, object recognition, camera calibration and 3D reconstruction.
There are three methods to install libcv-dev
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install libcv-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcv-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libcv-dev

using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libcv-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libcv-dev
Install libcv-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libcv-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcv-dev
How To Uninstall libcv-dev on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libcv-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcv-dev
Uninstall libcv-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libcv-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcv-dev
Remove libcv-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libcv-dev
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcv-dev
Remove libcv-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libcv-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcv-dev
