In this tutorial we learn how to install libcpuid14 on Ubuntu 20.04.

What is libcpuid14

libcpuid14 is:

libcpuid is a small C library for x86 CPU detection and feature extraction. Using it, you can:

- get the processor vendor, model, brand string, code name,
- get information about CPU features such as: number of cores or logical
  CPUs, cache sizes, CPU clock,
- check if the processor implements a specific instruction set such as
  the SSE2, 3DNow!,
- execute the CPUID and RDTSC instructions (portably!)

This package ships the libcpuid shared library.

There are three methods to install libcpuid14 on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcpuid14 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpuid14 using apt-get by running the following command:
