How To Install libcneartree-dev on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install libcneartree-dev on Debian 9. libcneartree-dev is Library and headers for solving the Nearest Neighbor Problem

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libcneartree-dev on Debian 9.

What is libcneartree-dev

libcneartree-dev is:

Neartree is an API and a library for finding nearest neighbors among points in spaces of arbitrary dimensions. This package provides a C++ template, TNear.h, and C library and header files for compiling programs using Neartree.

The library uses the Nearest Neighbor algorithm after Kalantari and McDonald, (IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, v. SE-9, pp. 631-634,1983) modified to use recursion instead of a double-linked tree and simplified so that it does less checking for things like is the distance to the right less than the distance to the left; it was found that these checks make little to no difference.

There are three methods to install libcneartree-dev on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcneartree-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcneartree-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcneartree-dev

Install libcneartree-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcneartree-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcneartree-dev

Install libcneartree-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcneartree-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcneartree-dev

How To Uninstall libcneartree-dev on Debian 9

To uninstall only the libcneartree-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcneartree-dev

Uninstall libcneartree-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcneartree-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcneartree-dev

Remove libcneartree-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libcneartree-dev configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcneartree-dev

Remove libcneartree-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcneartree-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcneartree-dev

Dependencies
