How To Install libapache2-mod-rpaf on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libapache2-mod-rpaf
on Kali Linux.
What is libapache2-mod-rpaf
libapache2-mod-rpaf is:
rpaf is short for reverse proxy add forward.
rpaf is for backend Apache servers what mod_proxy_add_forward is for frontend Apache servers. It does exactly the opposite of mod_proxy_add_forward written by Ask Bjorn Hansen.
It changes the remote address of the client visible to other Apache modules when two conditions are satisfied. First condition is that the remote client is actually a proxy that is defined in httpd.conf. Secondly if there is an incoming X-Forwarded-For header and the proxy is in its list of known proxies it takes the last IP from the incoming X-Forwarded-For header and changes the remote address of the client in the request structure.
There are three methods to install libapache2-mod-rpaf
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libapache2-mod-rpaf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-rpaf
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-rpaf
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libapache2-mod-rpaf
How To Uninstall libapache2-mod-rpaf on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libapache2-mod-rpaf
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libapache2-mod-rpaf
Uninstall libapache2-mod-rpaf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libapache2-mod-rpaf
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libapache2-mod-rpaf
Remove libapache2-mod-rpaf Configurations and Data
To remove libapache2-mod-rpaf
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libapache2-mod-rpaf
Remove libapache2-mod-rpaf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libapache2-mod-rpaf
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libapache2-mod-rpaf
