How To Install ldap-git-backup on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is ldap-git-backup
ldap-git-backup is:
ldap-git-backup (creates and) updates a Git repository which contains the current LDIF dump of an LDAP directory. Given that writes are rare in an LDAP directory and confined to a few entries for each write Git will store the entire history of an LDAP directory in a space efficient way.
By default the backups are done with slapcat from OpenLDAP but can be done with any command that dumps the current contents of an LDAP directory in LDIF format.
There are three methods to install ldap-git-backup
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ldap-git-backup Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ldap-git-backup
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ldap-git-backup
Install ldap-git-backup Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ldap-git-backup
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ldap-git-backup
Install ldap-git-backup Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ldap-git-backup
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ldap-git-backup
How To Uninstall ldap-git-backup on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ldap-git-backup
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ldap-git-backup
Uninstall ldap-git-backup And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ldap-git-backup
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ldap-git-backup
Remove ldap-git-backup Configurations and Data
To remove ldap-git-backup
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ldap-git-backup
Remove ldap-git-backup configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
