What is lammps-mpich
LAMMPS is a classical molecular dynamics code, and an acronym for Large-scale Atomic/Molecular Massively Parallel Simulator. The code is designed to be easy to modify or extend with new functionality. This package contains LAMMPS MPICH binaries and libraries
We can use yum or dnf to install lammps-mpich on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lammps-mpich.

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lammps-mpich using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lammps-mpich

Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lammps-mpich using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lammps-mpich
How To Uninstall lammps-mpich on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the lammps-mpich package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lammps-mpich
