How To Install jline on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install jline
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is jline
JLine is a Java library for handling console input. It is similar in functionality to BSD editline and GNU readline. People familiar with the readline/editline capabilities for modern shells (such as bash and tcsh) will find most of the command editing features of JLine to be familiar.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install jline
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install jline.
Install jline on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install jline
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install jline
Install jline on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install jline
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install jline
How To Uninstall jline on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the jline
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove jline
