How To Install impressive-display on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install impressive-display on Kali Linux.
What is impressive-display
impressive-display is:
Provide an X11 session manager script that launches a minimal window manager and then launches the impressive PDF viewer in fullscreen mode.
In combination with the nodm display manager you can provide an easy-to-setup display screen based on regulary updated PDF files.
The viewed PDF file can be obtained from a given URL in regular intervals. Alternatively (or for testing purposes) you can also display a local static PDF file.
There are three methods to install impressive-display on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install impressive-display Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install impressive-display using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install impressive-displayInstall impressive-display Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install impressive-display using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install impressive-displayInstall impressive-display Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install impressive-display using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install impressive-displayHow To Uninstall impressive-display on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the impressive-display package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove impressive-displayUninstall impressive-display And Its Dependencies
To uninstall impressive-display and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove impressive-displayRemove impressive-display Configurations and Data
To remove impressive-display configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge impressive-displayRemove impressive-display configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove impressive-display configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge impressive-displayDependencies
