How To Install iep on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install iep on Debian 9.
What is iep
iep is:
Pyzo is a cross-platform Python IDE focused on interactivity and introspection, which makes it very suitable for scientific computing. Its practical design is aimed at simplicity and efficiency.
It consists of two main components, the editor and the shell, and uses a set of pluggable tools to help the programmer in various ways. Some example tools are source structure, project manager, interactive help, workspace…
Pyzo is written in (pure) Python 3 and uses the Qt GUI toolkit. Binaries are provided for all major operating system. After installing Pyzo, it can be used to execute code on any Python version available on your system (Python 2.4 - 3.x, including Pypy).
This is a transitional dummy package enabling the upgrade from IEP to Pyzo. It can safely be removed.
There are three methods to install iep on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install iep Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install iep using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install iep

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install iep using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install iep
Install iep Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install iep using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install iep

To uninstall only the iep package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove iep

To uninstall iep and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

To remove iep configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge iep
