How To Install gmsh-doc on Debian 9

What is gmsh-doc
gmsh-doc is:
Gmsh is a 3D finite element grid generator with a build-in CAD engine and post-processor. Its design goal is to provide a fast, light and user-friendly meshing tool with parametric input and advanced visualization capabilities. Gmsh is built around four modules: geometry, mesh, solver and post-processing. The specification of any input to these modules is done either interactively using the graphical user interface or in ASCII text files using Gmsh’s own scripting language.

There are three methods to install gmsh-doc
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gmsh-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gmsh-doc
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gmsh-doc

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gmsh-doc
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gmsh-doc
Install gmsh-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gmsh-doc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gmsh-doc
How To Uninstall gmsh-doc on Debian 9
To uninstall only the gmsh-doc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gmsh-doc
Uninstall gmsh-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gmsh-doc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gmsh-doc
Remove gmsh-doc Configurations and Data
To remove gmsh-doc
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gmsh-doc
Remove gmsh-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gmsh-doc
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gmsh-doc
