What is git-repair

git-repair is:

git-repair can repair various forms of damage to git repositories.

It is a complement to git fsck, which finds problems, but does not fix them.

As well as avoiding the need to rm -rf a damaged repository and re-clone, using git-repair can help rescue commits you’ve made to the damaged repository and not yet pushed out.

There are three methods to install git-repair on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install git-repair Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install git-repair using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install git-repair

Install git-repair Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install git-repair using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install git-repair

Install git-repair Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install git-repair using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install git-repair

How To Uninstall git-repair on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the git-repair package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove git-repair

Uninstall git-repair And Its Dependencies

To uninstall git-repair and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove git-repair

Remove git-repair Configurations and Data

To remove git-repair configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge git-repair

Remove git-repair configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove git-repair configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge git-repair
