How To Install gcstar on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install gcstar on Debian 9.
What is gcstar
gcstar is:
GCstar is an application for managing your collections. It supports many types of collections, including movies, books, games, comics, stamps, coins, and many more. You can even create your own collection type for whatever unique thing it is that you collect.
Detailed information on each item can be automatically retrieved from the Internet and you can store additional data, such as the location or who you’ve lent it to. You may also search and filter your collection by many criteria.
GCstar is the successor GCfilms and is compatible to its databases. As GCfilms isn’t developed any more GCstars replaces GCfilms.
There are three methods to install gcstar on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gcstar Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gcstar using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gcstar
Install gcstar Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gcstar using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gcstar
Install gcstar Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gcstar using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gcstar
How To Uninstall gcstar on Debian 9
To uninstall only the gcstar package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gcstar
Uninstall gcstar And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gcstar and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gcstar
Remove gcstar Configurations and Data
To remove gcstar configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gcstar
