How To Install email-reminder on Debian 12

In this tutorial we learn how to install email-reminder
on Debian 12.
What is email-reminder
email-reminder is:
Email-reminder allows users to define events that they want to be reminded of by email. Possible events include birthdays, anniversaries and yearly events. Reminders can be sent on the day of the event and/or a few days beforehand.
This package includes the cron job that checks for events and send reminders once a daily.
Make sure you install the anacron package if your computer is turned off at night or the reminders will never get sent.
There are three methods to install email-reminder
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install email-reminder Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install email-reminder
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install email-reminder

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall email-reminder on Debian 12
To uninstall only the email-reminder
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove email-reminder
Uninstall email-reminder And Its Dependencies
To uninstall email-reminder
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove email-reminder
