What is pinentry-emacs

Pinentry is a collection of simple PIN or passphrase entry dialogs which utilize the Assuan protocol as described by the aegypten project; see http This package contains the emacs based version of the PIN entry dialog.

We can use yum or dnf to install pinentry-emacs on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pinentry-emacs.

Install pinentry-emacs on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install pinentry-emacs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pinentry-emacs

Install pinentry-emacs on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install pinentry-emacs using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install pinentry-emacs

How To Uninstall pinentry-emacs on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the pinentry-emacs package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pinentry-emacs
