What is perlbrew

perlbrew is a program to automate the building and installation of perl in the users HOME. At the moment, it installs everything to ~/perl5/perlbrew, and requires you to tweak your PATH by including a bashrc/cshrc file it provides. You then can benefit from not having to run ‘sudo’ commands to install cpan modules because those are installed inside your HOME too. It’s almost like an isolated perl environments.

We can use yum or dnf to install perlbrew on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install perlbrew.

Install perlbrew on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install perlbrew using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install perlbrew

Install perlbrew on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install perlbrew using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install perlbrew

How To Uninstall perlbrew on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the perlbrew package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove perlbrew
