How To Install libpng on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libpng
on Fedora 36.
What is libpng
The libpng package contains a library of functions for creating and manipulating PNG (Portable Network Graphics) image format files. PNG is a bit-mapped graphics format similar to the GIF format. PNG was created to replace the GIF format, since GIF uses a patented data compression algorithm. Libpng should be installed if you need to manipulate PNG format image files.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install libpng
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libpng.
Install libpng on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libpng
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libpng
Install libpng on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libpng
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libpng
How To Uninstall libpng on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the libpng
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libpng
