What is libnids

Libnids is an implementation of an E-component of Network Intrusion Detection System. It emulates the IP stack of Linux 2.x and offers IP defragmentation, TCP stream assembly and TCP port scan detection. Using libnids, one has got a convenient access to data carried by a TCP stream, no matter how artfully obscured by an attacker.

We can use yum or dnf to install libnids on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libnids.

Install libnids on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install libnids using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install libnids

Install libnids on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install libnids using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install libnids

How To Uninstall libnids on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the libnids package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove libnids
