What is libibverbs

libibverbs is a library that allows userspace processes to use RDMA “verbs” as described in the InfiniBand Architecture Specification and the RDMA Protocol Verbs Specification. This includes direct hardware access from userspace to InfiniBand/iWARP adapters (kernel bypass) for fast path operations. Device-specific plug-in ibverbs userspace drivers are included - libcxgb4 - libefa - libhfi1 - libhns - libipathverbs - libirdma - libmlx4 - libmlx5 - libmthca - libocrdma - libqedr - librxe - libsiw - libvmw_pvrdma

We can use yum or dnf to install libibverbs on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libibverbs.

Install libibverbs on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install libibverbs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install libibverbs

Install libibverbs on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install libibverbs using yum by running the following command:
