In this tutorial we learn how to install kanshi on Fedora 36.

What is kanshi

kanshi allows you to define output profiles that are automatically enabled and disabled on hotplug. For instance, this can be used to turn a laptop’s internal screen off when docked. This is a Wayland equivalent for tools like autorandr. kanshi can be used on Wayland compositors supporting the wlr-output-management protocol.

We can use yum or dnf to install kanshi on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install kanshi.

Install kanshi on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install kanshi using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install kanshi

Install kanshi on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install kanshi using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install kanshi

How To Uninstall kanshi on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the kanshi package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove kanshi
