How To Install hdf on Fedora 36

In this tutorial we learn how to install hdf in Fedora 36. hdf is A general purpose library and file format for storing scientific data

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install hdf on Fedora 36.

What is hdf

HDF4 is a general purpose library and file format for storing scientific data. HDF4 can store two primary objects essentially a multidimensional array of data elements, and a group is a structure for organizing objects in an HDF4 file. Using these two basic objects, one can create and store almost any kind of scientific data structure, such as images, arrays of vectors, and structured and unstructured grids. You can also mix and match them in HDF4 files according to your needs.

We can use yum or dnf to install hdf on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install hdf.

Install hdf on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install hdf using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install hdf

Install hdf on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install hdf using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install hdf

How To Uninstall hdf on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the hdf package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove hdf
